Burnout Paradise gets dated

Burnout ParadiseWe got the official press note letting us know that EA’s newest Burnout iteration will be in our hands first thing next year, January 22 to be exact in North America. Expect a demo for this sockem racer this December to try out some fast paced action and also if you pre-order your copy at Gamestop you can expect an exclusive car download. Some are saying that EA pushed the envelope to try and re-invent this series, I just hope that the great sense of speed and crashbreakers stays untouched.

From the official press release:

Alex Ward, Creative Director at EA Criterion says, “The Burnout series has always been about reinvention. Burnout Paradise does exactly that. This is the definitive Burnout experience because Paradise removes all restrictions, breaks all the rules and puts the control in your hands. We’re taking risks with Paradise but we believe that every iteration of Burnout stands on its own and we feel Paradise is the best Burnout yet.”

Earlier this year, EA unleashed a pre-order program for Burnout Paradise with GameStop, one of the biggest video game retailers in America. Early GameStop customers will receive an exclusive car, “Steel Wheels,” to smash the competition with two and a half tons of heavy-metal mayhem. The heavily modified Steel Wheels GT concept car was designed from the ground up specifically for the celebrity with style. Featuring armor-plating and a supercharged 6735cc V8, this car is sure to make a grand entrance at any premiere.

Burnout Paradise has been rated E10+ by the ESRB and 3+ by PEGI. For more information about the Burnout franchise, please visit http://burnout.ea.com or the EA press website at http://info.ea.com.

I’m definitely looking forward to the demo of this game, but I’ll probably end up Gamefly-ing the actual game.

For me, the older burnouts were great. I think the concept is getting old, and its turning into more of a arcade racer then the original try to get as many points as possible for crashing. While I’m glad they are trying to bring something new in, I don’t think its enough for me to pick it up.
