After spending a lot of time with the PS3 over the past year, there’s a few things I’d like to see refined with the XMB in the PS3. Mainly, I’d like to see things broken down a bit more. Under the Games menu, I’d love to see folders for demos, downloaded games, PS1 classics, etc. The same goes for videos, with folders for trailers, game videos, etc.
I know these are small in the grand scheme of things, but I think it’s these little things that will really help the PS3 in adding the enjoyment.
Now you know what I want to see. What about you? Any tweaks you’d like to see made to the XMB?

Write a Comment»Yes, I agree. The PS3 does need expanded organization on the XMB. I mean if they truly expect the PS3 to be a all-in-one media device where downloaded content is king, they need to have more ways to categorize and arrange it.
I think demos should be separated from games you have bought, that’s for sure.
One thing i would really like is in-game xmb and in-game music player. I do also wish it had a better way to organize things with folders, as I plan on fillinf up the rest of my 38 gigs with lots of music and videos.
I agree as well, although I can’t help but think that it was done this way on purpose, you want to penetrate the market right? You and I may be immune but the hierarchical filing method confounds the average human to the point where they adopt that “deer in headlights” gaze. If you slowly add layers of folders/options as people fill up their drives and become acquainted with its interface it is a potentially better way to avoid scaring off the uninitiated and 40 market (that has all the $$$). Just a thought.
Edit : 40 market

LMAO that just made it worse! .. evidently no plus signs allowed.
Edit : Edit : 40 plus market
Well. You are getting Online for free, so thats good. I guess paying $50 a year has its benefits in some way. I’m sure Sony will update the XMB over the holidays, when more games come out. I think that UT3 would have something to easily connect with your friends, but we will see.
