Xbox 360 HD-DVD + 5 Free HD-DVD’s + Heroes Season 1 in HD-DVD Format = AWESOME

Much to my surprise, I picked up today’s paper and the weekly Best Buy circular dropped out. There was a huge HD-DVD deal for the Xbox 360. Here is the offer from Best Buy that includes a mail in rebate for 5 movies, there is also a HUGE surprise.

You get Season 1 of Heroes, in HD-DVD….for FREE. This is a $99.99 value and the show absolutely kicks ass. The ad says it is good from Oct 21-27.

I have been putting off buying this for sometime with the apparent death of the HD-DVD format, but with new exclusive studio contracts and the rumors of a future Xbox 360 with a built in HD-DVD drive, this deal seems too good to pass on. Granted the movies you can choose from are less than spectacular, its still a deal considering the price of a stand alone HD-DVD player.

I hate seeing things like this, it is only prolonging the death of the HD-DVD. And untill it dies, they are both going nowhere.

If I didnt have such a strong hatred for all things HD, this would really appeal to me. Me love Heroes!!!

It sounds like a great deal. Has anyone seen that little disclaimer in the HD-DVD 360 add-on packaging?

(My nephew was reading it to me over the phone one day after he bought the 360 HD-DVD add-on)

It says something along the lines of the HD-DVD device uses up every ounce of computing power in the 360. So I think you basically can’t do anything else while watching a HD-DVD movie without running the risk of killing the 360. He has the premium (refurb after his first died) and the Elite, so I told him to use it on the refurb just to be on the safe side.

That’s better than the $129 deal I got from Circuit City after Best Buy posted the wrong price and I had a coupon for CC.

If they made the HD-DVD player $50/100 and included 5 dvds I would pick it up probably the next day.

I’m waiting for all this next gen HD shit to work itself out.
