Problems with OXM Demo Discs 76 and 77

FrustratedTypically I like to pick up print publications to see what other writers and editors view of the video gaming world are in contrast to our own and our friends. I admit that the Official Xbox Magazine is one of those publications I have a subscription to and typically enjoy but recently one of my favorite things in the publication, the demo discs, has been frustrating me to no avail.

Last month in the OXM demo disc #76, I had multiple problems with demos freezing in both the regular and arcade versions and I thought it might be my Xbox 360 acting up, but I did not show any problems playing regular discs. Now I received the OXM demo disc #77 and was pretty psyched to try out the new demo for Guitar Hero III, so I fired it up. What do I get? Disc unplayable, Mixed Media disc, pretty much a nice steaming pile of crap and not even the ability to check out the demo or even open the disc.

Has anyone else had these problems as well? Am I the only unlucky one with a nice shiny new GH III demo and no ability to play it? Shame on you you OXM, shame!

I haven’t gotten OXM in over a year, but I had problems every couple months with bad disks from them. Was one of the reasons I didn’t renew the subscription

Has happened to me in the past w/ the disc not being able to be read…tells me to put in an Xbox 360 disc etc. I boiled the disc from the instructions on the OXM forum at xbox.com and it worked.

Yeah I’ve heard to boil the disc in hot water for 4 seconds and then try it. If not , request a new one for free

I just got disc 77 as well, and got the same problem! Disc not playable! I went to wal-mart and bought another one, only to find out that it didn’t work either. I did notice however, that the discs both looked as if the rainbow of colors that you see on the reflective surface were all out of it and didn’t look right! Maybe boiling it for a few seconds will work out the kinks in it’s shiny magnetic armor. I live in Virginia by the way, and apparently the discs sent here didn’t work either.

I can’t believe it, I had the same errors ” Unplayable Disc” and ” Mixed media ” and I just boiled the disc for 20 seconds and it now works.

I wish i had know that before, I went and got he magazine replaced twice.

They need to note this in thier magazines, or buy higher quality DVD’s
