Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition gets the nod for October 26th release on the Xbox 360 to stores and then will have episodic content available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace in November in two parts. Looks like Tomb Raider just won’t go away, people find a need to relive their glory days of 1996 and make Lara fight tigers and bears and stuff. Not a big fan so I will hold off on this one.
From the official press release:
Eidos Interactive Ltd., part of SCi Entertainment Group, one of the world’s leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, is pleased to confirm that Tomb Raider Anniversary on Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, will be released on October 26th at retail and then in November as episodic downloadable content on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Inspired by the first Tomb Raider videogame, originally released in 1996, LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER: ANNIVERSARY is a totally new adventure for Lara, faithfully preserving the elements which made the original Tomb Raider such a classic (selling over 7 million copies worldwide). The Tomb Raider series is still one of the best selling videogame franchises of all time with over 32 million copies sold and two major feature films released, starring Angelina Jolie.
“Anniversary has already been a great success on PS2 and PC Games for Windows and now 360 owners will get the choice of either owning a boxed copy or downloading the game straight to their 360 hard drive.” said Kathryn Clements, Senior Brand Manager for Tomb Raider.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be available on Xbox 360 at retail from October 26th throughout Europe and as downloadable episodic content for Xbox 360 in November in two installments, each containing two chapters and the mansion level.
In order to access Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary downloadable episodic content for Xbox 360, players will require a Lara Croft Tomb Raider Legend disc. Additional Tomb Raider Anniversary downloadable content will also become available for purchase on Marketplace to support the launch of Tomb Raider Episodic such as picture packs and theme packs.
