Midway gets artistic

Cover ArtMidway just sent over word of it’s latest project venture into the world of art. Midway just announced the release of The Art of Midway: Before Pixels and Polygons, 160 pages of concept art and illustrations from some of it’s top titles. Expect to see some Mortal Kombat art as well as Stranglehold for $24.95. This is a cool idea since some of the concept art from certain titles look phenomenal as well as the marketing artwork.

(NYSE: MWY), a leading interactive entertainment software publisher and developer, and Design Studio Press announce the release of The Art of Midway: Before Pixels and Polygons. The book is available now online and at select bookstores at a list price of $24.95.

“The Art of Midway is about imagination, creativity and progress,” said Matt Booty, senior vice president - worldwide studios, Midway. “Readers will get a sense of the depth of skill and devotion Midway’s artists use to generate innovative and technically beautiful work.”

The book features 200 concept and environment illustrations which fill 160 pages from top designers and artists who have worked on Midway’s top-selling and award-winning franchises. Such art includes content from Midway’s signature title Mortal Kombat® the futuristic combat game Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy®, the action horror game, The Suffering™ and Midway’s most recent blockbuster title Stranglehold™.

The Art of Midway boasts unpublished works from Visual Game Director Stephan Martinière, Vince Proce, Ben Olson, Bruno Werneck, and other Midway artists. This collaborative piece showcases the visual and narrative marvels behind Midway’s game development.
