Once I turned on the game on the first thing that hit me was the graphics are a bit pitiful on the loading screens and the game itself is pretty basic looking, although it is very cartoonish so this isn’t as terrible as in like a Madden or something. The characters all look like shrunken bobble heads, but have little differences in animations, pitching style, batting style, etc.
Beneath MLB Power Pros very cute exterior lays a fairly deep game. I was very surprised to find after loading the game up that the initial screen has a ton of options, form season to homerun contest, to exhibition, to even a mode called “success” where you start your little character form school and try to get o the Bigs. You can arrange teams to make your own custom teams and play a user created league or season. The variety of options actually almost becomes overwhelming, which I wasn’t expecting.
The game play itself was pretty intuitive and at first does not involve motion sensing at all, you use the nunchuck to control movement and the Wiimote just controls hitting by pressing the A or B button. I actually figured out that you could use the Wiimote to hit in the Homerun contest mode, which is pretty fun, but very reminiscent of the Wii Baseball game. Hitting was easy to grasp as well as the pitching. The pitching follows the 2k sports style to a tee and the hitting is very simplified, very offensively oriented.
All of the teams were represented and the characters are adorable, as well as the cartoon stadiums. My main gripe in my first sitting with the game is that I could not figure out how to create my own character or find out how to import my Mii’s, this was my main reason for checking this game out and so far it has been frustrating to figure out.

This is immensely frustrating, and something I haven’t been able to do yet. Fantastic and fun game. Totally annoying that the success mode is nearly impossible.
yeah that mode is very cumbersome, it slike reading a text book. yeah it is dumb you cant just create a guy and there is no importing mii’s either. too many damn options, expect a full review tomorrow.
