If you were wondering what the specifications and requirements were for all of the armor mods, you’re in luck. If you look online, you will find many, many different opinions on what is and is not true. Here is the real deal. Much thanks for Halo 3 Planet and Halopedia which allowed me to verify all of the specs with their awesome page. Not included are the default armor sets.
SPARTAN ARMOR PERMUTATIONS:
Helmets
- Mark VI: Default Unlocked
- CQB: Default Unlocked
- EVA: Complete Campaign on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary
- EOD: Complete Campaign on Legendary
- Hayabusa: Collect all skulls
- Security: Get 1000 gamerscore in Halo 3.
- Scout: Complete “Used Car Salesman” Achievement
- ODST: Complete “Spartan Graduate” Achievement
- Mark V: Complete “UNSC Spartan” Achievement
- Rogue: Complete “Spartan Officer” Achievement
- Recon: Bungie Employees only and select players
- Flaming Helmet: Bungie Employees only
Shoulder Pieces
- Mark VI: Default Unlocked
- CQB: Default Unlocked
- EVA: Complete The Ark on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary
- EOD: Complete The Ark on Legendary
- Hayabusa: Collect 9 skulls
- Security: Earn 750 - 850 out of 1000 Gamerscore Points for Halo 3(There has been some glitches, point total varies)
- Scout: Complete “Mongoose Mowdown” Achievement
- Recon: Bungie Employees only and select players
Chest Armor
- Mark VI: Default Unlocked
- CQB: Default Unlocked
- EVA: Complete Tsavo Highway on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary
- Hayabusa: Collect 5 skulls
- Katana (Add-On): Earn 1000 out of 1000 Gamerscore Points for Halo 3
- EOD: Complete Tsavo Highway on Legendary
- Scout: Complete “Too Close to the Sun” Achievement
- Recon: Bungie Employees only and select players
ELITE ARMOR PERMUTATIONS:

I completed the triple kill in a ranked game, also got MVP in a ranked game for that matter, and I did not unlock the achievment. The triple kill shows on my Bungie.net profile, but not on my achievment list on my xbox
So no checking out the new armor for myself yet
That sucks! Are you sure it was in a ranked match? I thought I was playing ranked the other day, then I looked at Bungie.net and say I was in unranked for whatever reason.
By the way, how do you get MVP in a ranked game?

Actually, it’s a good question because last night I was playing with Wolfe1027 and he had equal or better stats in every category than the player on the other team who got the MVP….
I wonder if it takes into consideration the performance of your teammates or your and your teammates ranks… So if the guy who got the MVP over Wolfe was carrying his team while our team was more equally split or if he was a lower rank and outperformed other higher rank players or something like that…
That’s the only thing I can figure after seeing that happen last night….

I dont know how this happend, but i have gotten 1000/1000 gamerscore, and i should have everything, yet i do not have the Commando Shoulder Armor for the Elite, and yes i have gotten the Killing Frenzy Achievement.
I got MVP yesterday in Team Slayer match, so it doesn’t necessarily need to be Free for All. From what I gather, the only Free for All mode is Lone Wolves. I have over 15 melee kills in a game on Team Slayer and didn’t get an achievement. Switched to Lone Wolves and got it mid game.
@Not Right or Glitch - I know some of them you need to beat certain levels on Legendary or Heroic, so you may need to go back and play a couple levels again. If you already did, I’d suggest emailing Bungie to let them know of the glitch.
You can only unlock armor/achievments in Ranked FFA, Lone Wolves!!!!! I know this because it frickin says so on the achievment itself! Also I have the commando shoulder armor for elite, it’s frickin sweet, all you have to do is stick your halo 3 disc in the microwave for 3 minuets and you’ll get it.
oh my god i got the killing frenzy like 4 times and i still didn’t get my commando shoulder armor this sucks i need someone to give me an instructions to get this commando shoulder

I have begun to see quite a few people with the katana on their backs during games and the Hayabusa helmet. Kinda sux since they arent rare anymore, at least 1 person has a Hayabusa helmet per game I have been in, katanas i have seen a few times now.
I wouldn’t stick your game disk in the microwave. It will most likely mess it up quickly (and your microwave). No stores are going to replace it after that either.

i unlocked the marathon man acheviment which unlocks the security shoulders ya, i had the shoulders on, the next day i got the mongoose mowdown acheivment and i got the scout shoulders but then the sercuity shouders disappeared.

wtf? I use the security sholders, i log on today and see that they where set back to default, I go in to change it back and they are no longer on my list. whats the deal?
