After hearing MS brag about their best lineup in history it got me thinking, throughout the years we have had different eras in gaming and consoles, which is everyone’s favorite?
For some their favorite will be the newest cutting edge technology, the nostalgia of the old 8 bit consoles, the progression to 16 bit or the classic old school Atari days. This can be viewed from many aspects like, games, hardware or just pure preference.
For this editor I think my favorite era of gaming has to be the NES and Sega Master System days. This opened the world of gaming to my eyes and got me really hooked, I can recall spending hours playying Ninja Gaiden and Contra, while discussing with my cousin which was the better system between the two. (I was always the Nintendo owner)

Write a Comment»What?? No mention of the PC era of the 90’s?? Strategy games galore, adventure games that were actually fun to play, and RPGs such as the Ultima series along with Space Sims such as Wing Commander and Elite II. Can’t vote on this poll I’m afraid.
i see where you are going with that. i left it more as consoles really wihtthe exception of the Apple IIC becasue I used to play wiht one as a little kid hehehehe

Genesis ftw! That console will forever be my favorite.
Um N64 was 64 bit, and SNES was 32 bit.
SNES still heads the pack in my book (which was 16bit by the way- sorry OTM SHANKS, 32 bit didn’t really hit until the 32X genesis add-on, Playstation was the first actual 32bit independent system and so-on and so-forth…..anyways….yeah, SNES).
I have to say I am a bit surprised to see so little votes for the classic NES era. I thought for sure that the original Mario and SOnic days would get some nods. Looks like the 16 bit era is taking a fast lead.
Yeah, gotta go SNES/Genesis here…. With NES closely behind.
Countless hours playing NHL ‘93, Madden ‘04, Griffey baseball, super punch out, F-Zero, mario world, etc. by far drowns out anything else. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new stuff, but my middle teenage years were definitely my most impressionable when it comes to gaming.
The Sega Saturn should not be on any list for the rest of human existence. I spent all my money on that when I was in middle school and there were maybe 10 games that were worth it. You can only play so much Virtual Cop.
Me votey for teh “next-gen”. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the past generations.
