You almost daily dose of hilarity.
(After a Team Slayer game where Gamer #2 finishes with not a single kill in a 4 on 4 match to 50)
Gamer #1: Hey Gamer #2, can you do me a favor.
Gamer #2:(squeaky voice, not a day over 10 most likely). Sure!
Gamer #1 Press eject and break your disc in half. You are a disgrace. Probably kill yourself afterwards.

Now don’t get me wrong, that line is funny as shit, but I have to say here that probably THE most annoying thing about Halo multiplayer is the over abundance of complete @$$holes online. Now I enjoy playing online, but I’m not the greatest at Halo for some reason. I get my share of kills, but usually end up near the bottom of the list.
So I’m playing online last night in 2 on 2 with a guy I play R6V with (which I am quite good at BTW) and we get destroyed by two guys who are officers already. After the game, instead of the standard courteous “good game guys” and move on, we get barraged by “man, you really suck” and the like. Even in matches we only lose by a few kills! (keep in mind I wasn’t even a private yet at the time.) This seems to happen in at least 50% of the games that we lose, unless it’s a really close match. The ones we win we get nothing, the ones we lose we get crap like this. In R6V and COD2 this type of behavior is normally the exception to the rule, but in Halo it seems to be much more accepted.
Is it just me, or does anyone else see this type of shit too? Again don’t get me wrong, a little smack talk is fine, but this is just plain belligerence… I think it takes away from the fun of the game…
…just my 2 cents…
People being douchebags on Halo games is pretty standard unfortunately. I’m not the best player ion the world, and I don’t try to be. I have fun killing or getting killed because Halo is a fun game. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll say some pretty distracting things while I’m playing , but at the end I either say ‘good game’ or nothing at all. But thats me I guess.
As for responding to those who think superiority in a videogame means having the right to unduly degrade others, here’s a scenario I’ve set up to give you ideas.
Player1 “Wow, good game guys.”
Player2 “Yeah, for us. You guys play like shit. Heh, I am witty”.
Player1 “Hey man. Ease up. Do you have any idea how hard it is to play this game and run a train on your mom at the same time?”
Player2 “Wow, I am vexed. Maybe I should consider the feelings of others before I speak from now on. Thank you for this valuable life lesson”.
Enjoy.
This is why I usually just plug my headset in and don’t wear it unless one of my friends is on the team. I’ll tune it for comedic value only. The game actually has not been as racist as I had expected.
I know its because a lot of bungie guys are Monitering it way more which is good so now I can enjoy my game without being called the N word by some 12 year old
I LOVE the trashtalk. Maybe its because I’m not that bad and am usually never harassed about my skill, or that I’m somehow always in a game with that really high-pitched kid who has just found out the joy of cursing. Either way, I just sit back and enjoy.
