Halo 3 Pre-Order woes

PreorderAs someone who has played quite a bit of Halo, mostly Halo 2 multiplayer on the original Xbox I was interested in Halo 3. Not like some other gamers out there that flocked to retailers at midnight to get the first glimpses of the game, but still interested. I found it interesting that some retailers were pushing for consumers to pre-order Halo 3 and actually told people that they couldn’t sell the game opening day without pre-orders, this is ridiculous. I went in the day of the launch into a Best Buy and saw literally hundreds of copies sitting on the shelves and heard reports of more the same throughout the US.

I actually know people that got screwed because of pre-orders, they went in and the retailers system was having problems so they couldn’t get the game on launch day! That is insane, you make me pre-order because if not you won’t sell me a copy of a game you have tons of, so I do and then your computer screws me.

Anyone else run into these problems?

Yeah, I didnt want ot name names, but you get hte idea. It is ludacris! They have cases of these discs lying all over the place but cant sell unless you ahve a pre-order, they dont make more money off pre-orders, so what is the point>?

You see….Pre-orders are for tards. The epitome of “hype”. Fooled by age old marketing ploys like a wide eyed sheep…..”Guarantee your Copy Today!” …OMFG I may not get a copy if I dont! To think of it selling out is…. well, it quite clearly displays the logic of a retard. Sorry for your misfotune. Mum will make you some pudding.

Its funny that one of the biggest games of the year, the highly anticipated Halo 3 really didnt need a pre-order. They couldve done like the Wii and made less than needed. Now that would of made for a frenzy at the stores. They couldve made less than the amount of pre-orders. Then EBAY and the people who had the pre-orders couldve made off like bandits. Instead there were thousands on the shelves. Even those “limited edition” copies with the helmet were available with relative ease. FYI. why would you spend 120 bucks on a replica helmet or 70 bucks for extra DVD content that is going to grow dust on your shelf.
    Back to my commentary…

I think its all marketing and hijinx to creat fake demands.
I also think they made so many copies of HALO3 because they wanted to stuff the market and try to break records before GTA4, Grand Turismo and the other Highly anticipated games come in.

XBOX360 needed a game like this because they were losing ground to PS3 and all those hardware complaints….
So why not stuff the market and create zillions of the game.

    MARKETING.

I bet if XBOX360 had a wide margin between itself and PS3 they wouldve made less of the game and made it harder to find….

I blame Gamestop and EBgames for all that preorder nonsense. I stopped shopping at their stores because of pushy salesclerks always trying to make you preorder something.

Now I buy all of my games at Target, where the employees leave you be.

And yeah, I went to Best buy to pick something up and saw several dozen copies of Halo 3 on the shelf.

Birdman just to let you know the ps3 IS gaining ground on the 360. Hasn’t been out a full year yet and the ps3 is in fair competition with the 360 for the holidays! Yeah we all know MS won the holidays cuz of halo (Even sony knows that) but fact is halo is the only game keeping MS from losing the holidays from sony. Cuz fact is what else does 360 have besides halo and the holidays? NOthing! Ofcourse there is a couple of games you can name other than halo that will make hits but i bet i can name more for the ps3! And thats sad cuz the 360 been released since 2005 and they can only compete with sony by releasing halo… SAD!

I have never had any problems with pre-orders at gamestop/ebgames. Maybe these are just isolated cases.
