The heraldry for the Knights of the Order of the Holy Spirit is also similar. The Cross of the Teutonic knights is different, but they seem more appropriate than Templars. Since you're playing Altair, the general feeling would be that he's the good guy. In a historical perspective, the Knights Templar are supposedly the guardians of the Holy Grail. According to documentation, they semi black-male'd the Vatican with the information. Could it be Altair is working with the Catholic Church to stop them and get back the Grail?
