Just got back from my local Gamestop with a healthy copy of Halo 3 Legendary Edition. I was on the fence about picking the up Big Daddy Edition, but after seeing the Spartan helmet, I had to have one. Yeah, you can’t wear it. But DAMN is this thing cool! The packaging for the Legendary Edition is really nice as well.
There were roughly 150-200 people at my small Gamestop, which is a big number. There was a lot of sprinting out to cars once people got their hands on the game, and I’m sure the Xbox Live servers are getting a workout right now. All in all, it went down pretty well. I just wish some of the food court places in the mall were open. They would have made a killing.
There was one kid there handing out business cards with his name, AIM screen name, and XBL Gamertag on there. Lots of people took them, lots of people laughed at him. Odds are he’s going to get quite a few messages with someone’s icky bits all over it. I saw at least 20 Halo themed shirts. No one dressed as Master Chief. I guess no one wanted that free copy of Halo 3 I was offering. Oh well, more for me
I’m taking my ass to bed, since I’m pretty sick and should have been sleeping instead of grabbing the game.

Personally, although I like the Halo series as a whole, I find myself feeling that I don’t have to absolutely get this title. Sure, I will pick the game up, but nothing about the game makes me want to get it on launch day.
We have three stores open for a Midnight launch in South Africa, could potentially be VERY jam packed!
I think i’ll pick it up tomoz mornin
I didn’t go to the store for the midnight release (Halo 2 midnight release was a nightmare) so I had the legendary edition delivered to my house with next day shipping so I could get some halo goodness in after work and before I had to go out and shoot darts tuesday night. At lunch I was with my friend Anidor (who picked up his copy at Best Buy) and we were able to get about 15 minutes of Master Chief in before we had to go back to work. As we were walking out my front door much to my delight my legendary Halo 3 was sitting on my doorstep.
I rushed home after work to play powered up my xbox and low and behold THE 3 RED LIGHTS OF HELL flashing, my xbox died (it was one of the original launch models). HOW THE HELL CAN THIS BE HAPPENING!!!! It is launch day for possibly one of the best games in recent memory and I am stuck with a bum unit.
So what would any sane person do? Call microsoft and get my unit repaired? HELL no ran right out to the local Best Buy and picked up the Halo 3 edition Xbox 360.
Moral of the story? Who knows, but the game sure does rock!
