MySims Blogger’s Day Q & A

MySims ScreenshotWe had a chance to sit down with the developers and ask some questions of them as they ran demo to show off the final build, here are some of the highlights:

Everyone wondered if there would be any wifi connectivity?
The answer is no, there will be no transfer of your Sims to anyone else.

Why did they choose not to use Mii’s?
The game was actually put into development back when the Wii was the Revolution and Mii’s didn’t even exist yet, EA also decided they wanted to stick to their own design and brand.

Why move away form the classic Sims look?
They tried to make this game look very much like a Nintendo game and was very influenced by Japanese art style.

Will the Sims speak English? No they will continue to speak “Simlish”, the emoted version of speech that makes no sense to anyone except other Sims

Why make everyone the same height and weight?
To focus more on the quirks or traits that make your character an individual, i.e. a hat or hair color rather than being tall and skinny, etc.

Are there any multiplayer or coop modes? No, this may show up in later iterations but these versions are strictly single player only.

Will there be any DS to Wii connectivity? No! This actually was sad news for me, I am becoming a big advocate for console to handheld connectivity and thought this would have been a great feature for this title to move your DS Sim to your Wii.

What is the form of currency in the game?
Essences are the only form of currency in both titles.

Can you change your character during the game? Yes, at any time you can change his/her clothes, voice and look. It is actually gender non-specific so you can put a dress on a guy or a beard on a girl, which I find a bit disturbing.

Does the game ever end? No, like all Sims game this game lasts forever and has no clear ending except maxing out your town’s star level. (you can get up to 5 stars)

How many NPC’s are there in total?
There are 80 in total you can interact with, but you can only have 27 live in your town at any time or kick some out to make room.

Is there any sex in the game?
NO! The game is rated E, so all the blurred out sex scenes are taken out.

Can you kill your Sim?
No, you can kind of torture them by being mean to them or decorating their house with things they may hate, but you can’t kill, mame, hurt or set your Sim on fire in these versions.
