BioShock Patch Causes Massive Framerate Issues

bioshock1.jpgIf you have not downloaded the BioShock patch, then please do not. There has been nothing said of its purpose and it has caused my game and several of my friends to experience lag issues. This is absurd for the reason that its not a multiplayer game. The makes for an awful experience and I had to turn the game off because it was painful to play through. I can only hope that this will be fixed soon because this has made the game of the year basically unplayable.

[Update] To remove the patch, clear the cache on your Xbox 360. Go to the System Blade, then Memory. Highlight the Hard Drive and hit Y. Hit X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X. Choose Yes to perform system maintenance. This will remove ALL downloaded patches. The next time you load up BioShock, do not download the patch.

My suggestion would be to clear the cache on the Xbox 360. This removes all downloaded game patches.

Go to the System Blade and then Memory. Go to the Hard Drive and hit Y. Then press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X. Choose Yes to perform maintenance.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I’m on the road for work, but will be firing this back up when I get home tomorrow and will definitely reject the update until the lag issues are fixed. Please keep us posted!

Guess I won’t be downloading that patch whenever I get the game now, =D. Still no explanation as to what it’s supposed to do?

I agree 100%….when I got the update available I only did it to download (or upload)my score. I started to immediately have issues and for awhile I thought I had an issue with my 360. Loading takes forever now and the framerate is terrible. So I loaded so other games and they worked fine and then I remembered the update…thanks for the advise on how to get rid of it.

I’m glad I haven’t gotten Bioshock from my nephew. Hopefully they’ll patch the patch ASAP.

I hate when they release patches like that, and that goes for PC games as well. Hopefully they release another patch to correct that.

Luckely it’s the first Bioshock patch or else when you erased your cache you’d HAVE to download the patch because of past path downloads, right? Besides all that I too hope they update the patch with a patch, even though I beat the game and got most of the achievments I still want to go back and play it 2K..

The patch actually HELPED my framerate issues.

    God, this is awful.

I haven’t noticed any lag since I installed the patch, what I have noticed however, is less hanging when picking up plasmids and whatnot. I’d say clearing your xbox cache may be a little extreme. Just one mans opinion though. Also, is there anyway one could see the lag that it’s causing others?

I was having trouble with the lag after the update but, at the end of Fort Frolloc, I hypnotized a Big Daddy, died and glitched with my gun shooting even though I wasn’t pulling the trigger. After that the game appears to run smoothly like it did before the update. It must have been a coincidence.

I did get an update yesterday (Don’t know why, I haven’t heard about it :s) but it was still lagging every second after it, every jump etc. But like I said before, it fixed itself.

Thanks a lot for the info. It worked a treat. Just been driven mad for 4 hours playing Bioshock for the second time. It was fine the first time then started freezing for a second or so every few seconds. I thought maybe this had something to do with Halo 3 as I’d just been playing it. Anyone else had problems with Halo 3?

Yeah I am having the same issue with it freezing every 2-3 seconds. Started after I downloaded the most recent patch. Blah.
