I got the retail version of Warhawk today for PS3 with the Jabra bluetooth headset. First impressions: this will be a must have for the PS3 if you like online shooters (the game is online only).
The game can have up to 4 people on each PS3 both offline and online. No other “next-gen” online games have supported 4 players on one console. Warhawk allows you to get 3 other friends at your house to play online against the world. Games support up to 32 players simultaneously. I’ve been in games with 32 players with absolutely no lag (for the record, I haven’t seen any lag in Warhawk with the beta or final release). Warhawk has all your standard online modes, including Team Deathmatch, Zone Mode (territory holding), and Capture the Flag.
The controls are really good for both ground and aerial combat, as I said with the beta. Things have been fine tuned here and there with some weapons being more powerful and others losing a bit of power. I think the game feels more balanced now. My favorite is still running around gunning people out of aircraft and vehicles. Hopping in turrets or rocket launcher stations is a lot of fun, especially when other people don’t see it coming.
The sound in the game is amazing, just like in the beta. It features full 7.1 channel uncompressed Linear PCM, which is astounding. I cranked my surround sound and was drooling. I love hearing the dog fights in the sky behind me, and being able to tell when planes are coming close so I could duck into cover.
I have a feeling this will be THE online game for PS3 for a long time. Expect a full review next week.

WHAT! I didnt think this came out untill tomorrow.
Better get one before there gone
I pre-ordered, so they shouldn’t sell my copy. I’ll go tomorrow morning!
is there a difference between downloading it and the disc
only difference is the wireless headset that it comes with
There’s actually a bit of bonus content on the disk. There’s a few videos for other exclusive games for the PS3 and a behind the scenes video on Warhawk. Not great stuff there. The headset is the big difference.
Man….this game is really making me want a PS3.
I wonder when Microsoft will start selling full versions of games through the marketplace…..? Any thoughts/rumors?
i know what you mean dude
Just got it today, great game! Gameplay is fun, the six axis is pretty good, and the multiplayer is amazing! Headset is pretty nice too. A must for any PS3 owner. Wish I could play more but now I gotta go to work… But It will await me untill I get home.
i have type 3 connection so a headset wouldnt do much for me
