Darklite Lightbar and DVD Remote for PS3

Darklight DVD Remote 1

Messiah Entertainment is dropping two new accessories for the PS3 in September. Their Darklite line of products will feature a DVD Remote and a Lightbar.

Darklite™ DVD Remote is an ion-lithium powered DVD/Blu-Ray™ media remote for the PS3 featuring bright backlit buttons for visibility in the dark.

Darklite™ Integrated Lightbar is a vivid lighting product for the PS3 that creates a unique atmosphere in the room while playing games or watching movies.

I honestly see no point in either of these accessories. The standard DVD remote from Sony is terrific, and do you really need neon on the back of your PS3? Both products will retail for $30 each, so there’s something for you to save your money on.

Messiah Entertainment, Inc. announces DarkliteTM products for use with PlayStation®3

Redlands, California, USA – August 22nd, 2007 – Messiah Entertainment, Inc. announces the Darklite™ product line today having developed two new specialty products for use with PlayStation®3. Darklite technology integrates lighting within a product to add functionality and create ambience in a dark living room. The two new products announced today represent a leap forward into next-gen accessories for Messiah Entertainment, which had previously focused exclusively on classic gaming since the company’s beginning in 2004.

Darklite™ DVD Remote is an ion-lithium powered DVD/Blu-Ray™ media remote for the PS3 featuring bright backlit buttons for visibility in the dark. The ultra-thin remote opens and closes much like a sliding cell phone and includes a Charging Station. The remote’s jet black appearance with high-gloss parts and a chrome trim mimic the look of the PS3. A smooth Control Ring and Center Button on the top of the remote allow the user to select primary DVD/Blu-Ray™ functions and make menu selections. With the remote slid open, advanced secondary buttons can be pressed to access the option screen, display screen, chapter skip, and more.

Darklite™ DVD Remote retails for $29.99 USD and becomes available September 25th, 2007.

Darklite™ Integrated Lightbar is a vivid lighting product for the PS3 that creates a unique atmosphere in the room while playing games or watching movies. The Lightbar connects to the back of the PS3 and can be set to Auto operation, which will turn the light On and Off with the PS3. Always On and always Off modes are also present. Six super bright LED lights give off a stunning blue light that make the PS3 stand out among your electronics. Precision high-gloss black parts and chrome styling form one seamless design when the Lightbar and PS3 are connected. The light beam can be aimed at various angles and brightness can be adjusted from high to low.

Darklite™ Integrated Lightbar retails for $29.99 USD and becomes available September 25th, 2007.

Personally, I would love a universal remote I can use with the PS3 and my TV and other accessories. But, so far I have only seen one and it is for $300 IIRC. But, as of yet I have not seen one that is affordable.

Dave - the reason there is the PS3 does not have an IR sensor. The remote uses bluetooth to work everything.

Drunk Pandas, I know that the PS3 uses bluetooth for everything. The problem is that I don’t know of any cheaper remotes ($50 or less) that will work with the PS3 and act as a universal remote for my TV (which is standard IR). Are there that many TVs that use bluetooth? — I just hate having to have separate remotes for everything…..

The only real option if you don’t want to buy a new universal remote is to get a USB IR receiver for the PS3. It’s not that cheap to go that way either. I personally use a Harmony 880 for everything and the bluetooth ps3 remote for that.
