Madden 08 Has Some Bugs

In case you thought EA made a game without lots of bugs, here’s some proof that the world hasn’t turned itself upside down.

Yeah, this guy is a bit angry.

Heh. I hope they release a patch soon because seeing that makes me a little reluctant to buy it (even though I still probably will since I didn’t buy 07)

I’m just hoping they patch the ridiculous defensive AI. I’m tired of having over 10 INT’s and 6 fumbles per game

I think the best suggestion for anyone would be to rent them and try it for each system assuming there is an option. For instance I have a PS3 and NCAA Football 2008 and a friend of mine has it for the 360.

The 360 version has slightly smoother framrate (although I honestly don’t see anything leaps and bounds better). More importantly, I have not noticed the PS3 version stutter under 30fps, like numerous reports say it does with Madden 08.

Both games have a very buggy depth chart (especially when used in game). Players get removed and can’t be re-added, because the game still thinks they are there. But, the other players will not ever get sub’d in.

However, we have seen many more gameplay bugs in the 360 version then I have on the PS3 version (I have played through 2 seasons). I have seen touchdowns that weren’t called touchdowns (literally the player crossed the touchdown line by a couple of yards, was tackled and it turned the ball over on downs). I have seen catches were the player was out of bounds called in (couldn’t challenge the call either because of the automatic replay that prevents you from challenging calls).

Not to mention other problems that are on both systems. Like the constant ground caused fumbles that get turned over. This happened at least 3 to 4 times a game my first season (don’t know why, but my second season it wasn’t much of an issue).

Also, in both versions the lineman jump offsides way too much. There is no way division I linemen (on offense of defense) should jump offsides 10 - 12 times per game.

Sorry for the rant, but I have been somewhat disappointed in some of the bugs of NCAA football 08. I mean overall, it is a good game and I have gotten my money worth out of it. But, these little things will keep me from buying a new version until I have seen that it was actually done right.

I couldn’t agree with this man more. I see the problem existing with very large gaming companies like Ubisoft as well - these companies are so huge that they seem to have laxed their QA standards. EA and Ubisoft both have an absolutely horrible track record of buggy games, and it’s about time that somebody steps up and fixes the problem.

This man’s anger is very justified, as spending $60 on a game isn’t taken lightly by anyone other than Mr. Gates. He couldn’t have hit the mark better when he picked up the box of Battlefield 2, as that game literally was unplayable for half the people that bought it until patch 1.2 (thats two full patches later, approx. 3-4 months after release). Step it up EA, we’re tired of your shit.

Yeah, Ubisoft has been really crappy lately. Except for Vegas.
