Rayman Raving Rabbids Review - Xbox 360

RaymanRayman Raving Rabids is a bit of an older title for the Xbox 360, but what can I say this is what Gamefly is sending me lately. I decided to give it a shot and play through to see what the game was all about, I had heard a few things and new about all the commercials with the craved bunnies and of course Rayman from the olden days. Rayman Raving Rabbids boils down to Rayman facing off against these bunnies in various mini-games, he travels from arena to arena and squares away with them in order of ree himself.

Presentation and Graphics: The graphics in Raving Rabbids is fairly standard and really did not do much to impress. The visuals are very much cartoon inspired and pretty basic with much of the emphasis going to the bunnies and making them funny by dressing them in odd costumes. One of the biggest annoyances of the game was the long load times and constant loading in between stages. 2 of 5

Sound and Music: Sound was also basic and music was not impressive other than some stages that are similar to a game of simon where Rayman dances to some old tunes like “Girls just want to have fun”. Although the stages where you toss cows have a great Moo yell as you toss your cow. 2 of 5

Gameplay: Gameplay was basic, Rayman goes from mini-game to mini-game, fighting against the bunnies in some way shape or form. Each set of stages had four regular mini-games and one final mini-game , which opened up the next section. It was very linear and really wasn’t much fun to play. The controls varied from stage to stage and for the most part were adequate except if you tried to incorporate in the use of the Xbox LIVE camera. Using the camera to play this game was an interesting concept, but it just translated into you flailing your arms in forn of the screen with erratic controls. Stick to the controller unless you want to look like an idiot and get frustrated. 2 of 5

Online: There were no onine capabilities but the game does offer multiplayer on the same console, which really is the games only saving grace. Raving Rabbids is a party game at best and is enjoyable with some drunk friends, but as a stand alone title lacks depth. 2 of 5

Lasting Appeal: This game offered little to no lasting appeal for me, I can’t see myself trying to play this again in the future even as a party game. The mini games were a bit un-inspired and repetitive.

Overall: 2 of 5

1 = Not worth the bandwidth.

2= Demo is enough, not worth your money.

3= Game is good, depending on the price, seriously consider picking it up.

4= Worth your money. Should provide some good times for quite awhile.

5= Buy the game. Lock your door. Pick up a case of beer. This could take all night.

Did anybody expect it to be a fun game? I was under the impression that the Wii version wasn’t any good either. Was it?

I think the controls were better because of the motion sensing but the game itself is just mini games, think of it as Mario Party r Fuzion Frenzy wiht Rabbits and Rayman. Un-inspired.

Yeah I didn’t like this one too much on the Wii. No desire to pick it up on any other console.
