New Xbox 360 Dashboard Update

Xbox 360 Spring Update Screen

There’s a minor dashboard update today for the Xbox 360, as reported by Major Nelson. This update adds support for the new wireless Guitar Hero III guitars that will be coming out in a couple months. And also… nothing. That’s all we get.

I’m willing to bet the farm that there’s a few other issues going on with this update that aren’t being reported. Microsoft has a track record of doing that, so why would this update be any different?

I can tell you one thing they didn’t sneak into this update… I still can’t auto sign-in to Live since the Spring Dashboard Update. Me and tons of other people with the official Microsoft wireless network adapter.

I wouldnt be surprised to see hidden anti-mod updates in there, a couple extra scans here and there to ban people from LIVE.

I agree. Microsoft is serious about modding, just like Nintendo.

There’s been a few updates where we know there was security measures added to ban modders and such but nothing was mentioned.

I’m not sure why all of these people are having trouble auto-signing-in. I have the wireless adaptor and it works fine. Perhaps it’s related to how quickly it can attach to the wireless network - fast works, slow means it can’t sign in?

Fistynuts - It seems to have to do with certain types of wireless networks, if there’s a disk in the dvd tray, and a few other factors. Just because it’s not happening to you doesn’t mean it’s not widespread.

I have an Elite with the wireless network adapter and a LinkSys WRT54GL router - auto-sign-in works fine for me, although there’s up to a 30 second delay from the dashboard showing until sign-in is completed. Usually it’s only a short 10-second delay, though.

My girlfriend’s laptop, running Vista, takes far longer to establish a network connection with the router. On the order of 45 to 60 seconds.
