Halo 3 Online Multiplayer Co-Op Not Looking Good Says Bungie

halo-3.jpgThe thought of not being able to play online multiplayer co-op on Halo 3 this September is looking more like a reality reports computerandvideogames.com. Bungie says that they have been trying diligently to get the online co-op to work but there are gaming limitations that have provided hurdles in the process.

We’re not dumb,” says Bungie’s Frank O’Conner. “We know that people want it and we’re trying to make it happen. I think the biggest problem for us for online co-op is that we have a situation where you can be in a Warthog with five troops, almost a mile away from the other player. That’s a significant challenge. And there’s lots of design things you could do to prevent that from happening, but they would make it not feel like Halo anymore. If we can make it happen in a way that works well, we will – and if it works badly, we won’t.”

They have not ruled out a possible download or patch if and when they get it right after the game’s launch, but its something that is sure to disappoint gamers as a much wanted game mode looks to be unrealistic at this point.

  1. How is this a problem that you’re far away from each other? In Gears, that’s an entire part of the co-op experience.

I think Bungie is throwing a cop-out because they can’t make it work

Yea. Halo 2 worked just fine with co-op sharing a TV. I don’t see how making it co-op would take away from the experience because it worked just fine in Halo 2 and didn’t take away from the experience.

Personally, I love co-op so much. It makes the campaign that much more interesting, because you have someone to talk to for the 10ish hours your playing it with. Its always cool to have a friend to beat it with, instead of just playing through it yourself. In-fact, GoW was a much better game in Co-op, and separating the players wasn’t a big deal except the carts in Act3 on insane, that was annoying.

But on halo 1 you teleported to your friend if he got to far.
