The UK isn’t getting a price cut on the PS3 like we saw in the US. Instead, Sony is adding some value to the console and now calling it a Starter Pack.
For your £425, you’re now going to get the 60GB PS3, two SIXAXIS controllers, and copies of Resistance: Fall of Man and Motorostorm. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right?
Here’s where I see a problem with this bundle… no one in the UK under age 18 can buy this bundle. You might say people under 18 don’t have that much cash anyway, but that’s not the point. By including Motorstorm, and 18+ game in the UK, Sony is preventing the sale of the Starter Pack to minors. Seems like a poor choice in my eyes. What do you think?

PS3 Starter Pack Announced For Europe

I think that they should have discounted the PS3 instead of bundling it with 2 games. That seems like a good idea, except resistance is the only really good game out now for PS3 (this winter will be good). However, motorstorm is meh.
Also, I think that minors (such as me) parents will be uneasy if they see a M rated game bundled with a PS3, and may not buy the system for the kid because of the violence in the game. Personally, my mom lets me buy rated M games, and I don’t have extreme aggression or anything, I turned out just fine.
This was a unwise decision by Sony, I would have just discounted the system and let people pick the games they want in the system, instead of forcing games on them.
I agree Fragloser. A price cut would have been better. Give consumers the choice to buy whatever games they want.
This reminds me of what Sony did with the PSP. The “Value” pack that game out included the memory stick, Spiderman 2, the case, and other things. Then a few years later they came out with a 199 version which was basically stripped down.
I would have just gotten a 1 gig stick anyway, and I didn’t need the case or SM2 at the time, so just save me 50 bucks and i’ll end up buying other stuff.
