Nintendo was sandwiched in the middle off E3 with the second press conference from the three console manufacturers. And just how did they do? There were some new game trailers and some new games/controllers announced (click here for more in depth coverage).

So what did everyone here at Loot Ninja think of the press conference? Read on to find out.

drunk pandas: With Nintendo, I was expecting a lot of games, since there is a great lack right now. The great Reggie-nator showed up some videos of Super Mario Galaxy (with a release date), announced Mario Kart for the Wii with online play, showed off the wheel for Mario Kart, and announced the Wii Zapper accessory. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed by all of this. The Wii, for many people, has been lacking quality titles to really give a reason to play the system.

Shiggy came on stage and introduced Wii Fit with the balance platform accessory. Yeah, this isn’t the major announcement we all needed. Sure, this will sell like hotcakes with the mass market that the Wii is appealing to right now, but for gamers, this isn’t that important. Go outside, go to the gym, whatever… you don’t need to buy a Wii game to get some exercise.

What really disappointed me from Nintendo was Reggie talking about their online platform. Reggie was bold enough to say that Nintendo’s online platform is already there. Sorry Reggie, but if you want me to play online with the Wii and DS, get rid of the damn friend codes. At least make 1 friend code per system, not on a per game basis. I don’t have the time or desire to click 16 numbers, then name someone just to add them to my Wii address book.

Overall though, I think Nintendo did a decent job at E3. It’s clear they’re not trying to appease the hardcore gamer. What they are offering for the mass market is a great product, and will move a lot of product. I was just expecting more for the hardcore gamer.

taz8080: Nintendo underwhelmed during their press conference, I can’t express my disgust upon seeing the Wii Fit being announced, what a gimmicky piece of crap. They also go and announce the Wii zapper? Shiet how about announcing some good games that you haven’t been holding over our heads already? I am tired of hearing that Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy, Brawl and Metroid are all coming, what is ready now? Nintendo launched this system too early, it has no game support and right now that sensing technology is fading faster than Winona Ryder’s career.

Also Nintendo should just keep their mouth shut when it coems to online, actually so should Sony, MS is the only one to get it right so far. Nintendo friend codes are horrid, it took me almost ten minutes to set up a friend, I can’t picture dealing with that crap every time I want to play Brawl. The DS has Wifi but is that something to be proud of? that your hand held has better online capabilities than your home console, I would keep that quiet, it’s like saying your little brother has a bigger johnson than you and beng proud of it.

fierce Scuba: I have to be honest, the Wii sometimes appeals to me and sometimes it does not.  Wii sports and games of that nature I think are a monumental step forward, but most of their stuff, I have no desire to buy or even rent.  I could get a Wii right now with an online bundle of ANY 6 games and there really is not anything outside of Zelda I need to have.  Wii has plenty of decent material, but E3 did not show me much of a new direction.  I realize they are more orientented to the family gamer for obvious reasons, but they need to at least whet the appetite of the hardcore people.   Their online system is beat, I was hoping the friend code thing would change.  I hear they have about a 100 games or so coming out before Christmas but no killer apps.  The Wii Fit might be the worst invention since Vacuum Haircut Attachments. They both suck hard. The Wii Zapper could go either way.
