Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3) Impressions

Ninja Gaiden Sigmal Image

Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PS3 is a thing of beauty. The game runs at a constant 60fps at 1080p, which looks beyond amazing. The characters, environments, and animations are all insanely crisp.

The game is as hard as ever. It builds upon Ninja Gaiden Black and adds a bit of difficulty to it. Of particular note, there’s no difficulty settings in Sigma. You start a game, you get one option: hard as hell. Compared to the Xbox version, there’s more enemies in a few new places, which adds a some frustrations if you’re running low on health.

The loading times are literally non-existent in Sigma once you install the game to the hard drive. When you first load the game, there is an Install option on the menu… do it. It takes a little over 10 minutes and uses around 3GB of hard disk space, but what it adds is priceless. I can’t even tell you how pissed the Xbox version made me when I had to watch a book scroll by twice waiting for a level to load. I honestly expected that here, and was pleasantly surprised to not have that loading time.

Overall, the game is well worth it, even if you’re already played through the Xbox version. Expect a full review coming soon.
