Wii Not Bulletproof To Hardware Issues

wii1.jpgIt seems that the Red Lights of Death have been appearing on the Wii, this time in the form of green dots called Sparkles reports many users over in the Neogaf forums.  It seems that they happen when the system overheats or has been left on for a prolonged amount of time with high frame rate games such as Resident Evil 4.  It seems that Nintendo has been very good with replacing systems and users report that if the Wii is left vertical, it does not seem to heat up as much.  Since I do not own a Wii, I am unable to comment first hand, but is anyone else out there experiencing similar issues? If so, please let us know.

  1. Yeah the Wii is actually a huge heat sink, that thing heats up like no ones business and i definitely would not recommend leaving it laying flat. Mine is in a stand which helps it vent a lot better and the other day mine just froze. I hadnt used it for a while and i tried firing it up and nothing… it would eject discs and take discs in but wouldnt load them or go to the VC?! I had to unplug the system and then got it to reboot. It was kind of odd… i just htought it was my Wii being mad at me for lack of use.
