PS3 Rumble Controller in Development

We all knew it was coming. After Sony settled their dispute with Immersion, it’s just been a matter of time for a SIXAXIS with rumble to come out for the PS3. Every PlayStation gamer is axiously awaiting it’s arrival.

It turns out it won’t be too much longer, according to a report from Inner Bits:

We can now confirm that this is the case. We’ve heard from two independent sources at Sony that they have been working on prototypes for several months. Officially, the corporate line is still “no comment”. Unofficially, Sony is facing some difficulties with battery life; i.e. Between the rumble and the wireless support, the batteries are draining too fast to be acceptable for consumers.

Let’s hope Sony puts their best people on the case here to solve the battery issues. We want rumble in the PS-Triple!

What battery issues? I’ve had my PS3 since New Years, and I only charged it twice, while playing through Need for Speed, VF5 and R:FoM.

As for the rumble, I hope they provide at least one replacement controller for people who bought an extra controller, aka ME.

  2. Well the rumble was coming, everyone griped about it once it was launched. Somehting tells me that I doubt they will giveo ut any free controlelrs, it will also be interesting to see how they price them. htey could say that rumble costs money and up the price for a controller.
