Tenchu Z Demo Impressions

tenchu-z.jpgHaving not played any Tenchu games since PS1, I was very excited to give this a play through.  The game seems to be a Splinter Cell but watered down in the stealth department.  Like all demos, the game instructions are super vague.  You need to play through a few times to see what things mean.  If you kill someone, their body doesn’t seem to alert anyone.  Which is good in away because that can get very frustrating plus it indirectly means you can kill more people with no penalty.  The level you play requires you to board a boat and kill a character but must do so by getting past about 12 guards.  You can take them one on one, but its not fun that way.  From what I gathered, is that you creep up behind them and stealth kill.  I saw 4 different animations, none in particular order, but equally bloody nonetheless.  As far the pickups, no idea what they do, I just kind of used them at will and see what they did.  There was an invisibility thing and a smoke screen, as well as health power ups. The controls were a step above decent, but need to be practiced.  You can jump anywhere and hold down RB and not make a noise.  This in necessary for stealing around.  The main flaw I found was how the ninja character would fall off ledges way too easily.  Not good for a stealth game.  This game is definitely a rental if not a purchase, but a little more info is needed before that can be ascertained.
