I spent a good bit of time this morning in the Warhawk beta on PS3. This will be a must have when it’s released. Hands down.
The controls are really good for both ground and aerial combat. It took me a bit to figure out what buttons did what actions, but once it did it was on like donkey kong. I spent a good deal of time running around, capturing flags and territories (depending on the game type), while most people stayed up in the air to fight it out. Once I did get in the air, I got my ass kicked. I’ve never been great at aerial combat, and this isn’t an exception. However, I did find the controls much easier than say a Crimson Skies type of game. I’ll have to fly around more and see what I can do. I did shoot down a couple people, which was nice.
There’s a ton of weapons including hand-held guns and grenades, upgraded weapons for tanks and jeeps, and upgraded weapons for the aircraft. Not to mention all the crazy turrets you can hop on. My personal favorite: the flamethrower. I mean, come on… who doesn’t love a flamethrower? Even Spaceballs had one. I digress.
The sound in the game is amazing. It features full 7.1 channel uncompressed Linear PCM, which is astounding. I cranked my surround sound and was drooling. I love hearing the dog fights in the sky behind me, and being able to tell when planes are coming close so I could duck into cover.
The game is exceptionally fun. I think between this and Socom, the PlayStation Network is going to be mighty crowded this holiday season. Now I just need to decide between a download or the disc… hmm…

This Beta blows. Other than good sound the gameplay is lame and once again “underwhelming” next gen. graphics.
are we playing the same game i think you are mistaken the game as a whole is great i think the ps3 needed a game like this to bring it back with titles like haze and moha coming the ps3 will make me put my elite 360 away 4 a while

Yeah seriously PS Blows… have you even played it? It’s some of the best shooter/flying controls on the Playstation
it dose lock my ps3 up but besides that i love it i have been playin it for a whole day now and my woman is gettin mad so dude the only people that hate on the ps3 are people that dont have one
