There will be a Socom game released for the PS3, but it will not be what fans of the series are used to reports Joystiq. The game will strictly be an online game that will support up to 32 players.  As it is right now, the game will come with 5 maps and the rest possibly available by download. Simply put, this version has no single player campaign.  No official word yet if a more complete version will be released next year, but this version will be available by download only on the playstation network this holiday season.
