Wow, this year has been a frenzy of remakes and rehashes but this one holds dear to my heart. At their recent conference Tecmo announced the release of a brand new Tecmo Bowl Game for 2008. They were a bit vague as to what it would be and for what console, but who cares it’s Tecmo Bowl people. Long live the 99 yard bomb or the 99 yard kick off return, I can only hope that it stays true to it’s ancestors, it brings back memories of playing on my NES on a 13” TV, those were the days.

Quote from the conference, read it and you’ll be thoroughly confused yet pleased:

“I can’t tell you what platform we’re making it for. But I can tell you that it’s probably not going to be on the platform that you’re expecting… if that makes any sense.” This 2008 game will not be a port. It’s a band new game for one of the new systems. But which one?!? “That’s one thing I can tell you for sure. This is going to be a brand new game for one of the new systems … We’re confident that the new Tecmo Bowl is going to be the talk of the town in 2008.”
