I just took a trip around to all my local stores that sell video games. After a trip at 1:30pm to Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Gamestop, EB Games, and Circuit City, I found that they ALL still have Elite systems in stock.
I know some of these stores got as little as 4 units, and they all have systems in stock. Is the demand not there? I would have expected the stores with the smaller quantities to at least sell out, but it doesn’t look that way.
A quick trip to Ebay shows systems selling for a premium over the retail value. Could my market just be an anomaly?

I am not surprised of the lack of interest. they may see some slaes at the holidays but right now there is no real reason for existing users to make any switch.

cause most people are fine with the sexy white 360 and are just getting 120 gb hard drive…..reguardless the 360 ROCKS O YEA………..GO MICROSOFT
I went to Best Buy today at 5pm and they had at least 10-12 elites in stock on a table in the middle of the video game aisle with 2 employees guarding them. This is in central NJ.
haha well well weeelll..why am i not surprised?? ..for one reason ..like me ppl already have a 360 and have enough problems with there “white one” as it is..ive sent mine in 2wice! already…plus who the hell wants to pay an extra what was it $499.95 for a new xbox thats black, has HDMI and little bigger hard drive?? i would jus think to go and buy the hard drive and say the hell with the black one…O DAMN ITS BLACK!! ….not only that they said the forza 2 demo was coming out in the mid weeks of april..its April 30th!! and still no fuckin demo! sooo honestly i think alot of ppl are gettin tired of the 360 bc its gave ppl nothin but problems..for instance (The pretty little red lights!!!) and that’s all i have to say about it.

I have both 360 and ps3. I use 360 mostly to play games. I bought 1600pts to download movies. I have 400 pts left. I do not see any movies in HD I want to download. Urrrgh! MS: more HD content pls. Why don’t you buy a movie studio like fox or go into partnership with them and provide a lot of HD movies? Not interested in HD tv shows. I have Tivo for that. I would buy Elite or a 120GB hard drive if enough HD content was available.
I use my PS3 almost exclusively for playing blu-ray movies. I see the lower cost 360 Elite having the same targeted market as ps3 … the home media center. Sony seems to have some exclusive blu-ray movies that are rather good. I have same number of BD/HDDVD movies. Sony has almost no exclusive games for ps3; hence, sony has positioned ps3 as a media center first, gaming console second. The only game I bought was resistance. Waiting for socom, metal or killzone. Motorstorm is ok, but waiting for used game pricing. Sony’s HD downloadable content is almost non-existent. Blu-ray is not needed for gaming. Blutooth is nice if it’s for free. Because sony showed its hand with its deceptive strategy, it will be 2-3 years before they catch up to MS. If Nintendo wipes out sony’s PS2 cash cow, sony is done for. 360/Elite will be the only HD console left on the market.
I asked the clerks at Target and WalMart in Newburgh and they tell me they haven’t received any yet. Ebgames and Gamestop had a few each, visible as you enter the stores.
I got mine at Target at 8:00am Sunday, last one. Guy behind me 1 minute later disappointed. The 2 walmarts near me never got any. Circuit city all reserved out. Didn’t check Best Buy as I already was home at 8:20am happy.

Went to Best Buy yesterday at 3:00pm. They had around 7 Elites still there. They also had a table full of the black accessories and the 120GB HDD. There seemed to be less HHDs than anything else. (2 HDDs, 8 controllers left). I think if MS had waited until the 65nm chip were ready, and released it exclusively on the Elite for a few months, the consoles would be flying off the shelves. I for one am witing on the new chip, and then I’ll get the 360 Premium. I don’t need 120GB, HDMI, or a premium black paintjob.
@Rocky – Yes you caught us dude, we make up all of stories, we dont play video games and we are actually secret Sony agents… wait then it might not have been such a great idea to write about the PS3 scaling issues. Maybe we are Nintendo spies… o wait we also reported about the lack of titles on the Wii and the different issues that have plagued that system as well. Wait maybe we are just f#ckin gamers that are trying to shed some light on things… crazy talk!
Yeah! i work at best buy, and had got 17 in! There wasnt a line at all before the stored opened up and we had tickets all ready and everything! 4 hours went by and we only sold 1, not to many people really wanted it, or doesnt seem to excited
