there really isn't much of a difference ask I believe that you limited the FPS in software for this comparison. The big difference when gaming is not just the average FPS, but the jumps in framerate. A constant 24 wouldn't be too bad. but slowing from 60 to 15 would be. MEh, what do I know, I always have VSync on because tearing annoys the crap out of me.

I don't really see a difference between 24 and 60fps, I can just about notice a difference at 15fps, but not enough that I'd really care. In the above example 24fps looks fine, 60fps looks just as fine because it looks the same.

Even the bouncing ball looks ok at 24fps, there is something artificial looking about the 60fps, it just doesn't looks "wrong"

Well of course you will notice the difference with no motion blur present. But that is precisely how 24 fps movies are *not* done. Ask the Pixar guys, they perfected these things in the 1980's.

What about those of us who have been playing games with a low framerate for so long that a high framerate just doesn't "feel right?"

I can clearly see the difference between 24 fps and 60. And if you can't you really should consider getting a new monitor and having your eyes checked.

I know this is old but I had to comment. The problem causing people to see very little difference in the example is the movie itself has a frame rate, 60fps (and this online media player might also cut that to 30). This means the the 24fps parts have been converted to 60. For a real comparison, you'd have to watch the footage in 2 different video files, one after the other. Then you'd see true 24 and true 60. Probably best if went back and forth a couple times. You'll notice that 24 looks more film-like and 60 looks more real (if there's no movement in the scene, it'll look the same). When people shoot movies in 24 it's because they want the "film look", and don't want it to look real.

(I've also seen people showing low/high def comparisons on youtube. Youtube doesn't display HD (yet) so there's no difference. Some "emperors with new clothes" insist they can see a difference.)

Guys...
Unreal is fastest game ever... so when you will play this game on hi-skilled... 24fps is crazy ...its shit! DM-TAM-ONS need more then 50 .. best is 80 fps. Just for info - this video is maked with framerate max 30fps, so how you can see differense between 34 and max30 fps ? :)
You should try this video on different game... unreal (coz is extremely fast and the best ) is worst choice for fps testing...

I play UT leagues 6yrs so i know what about im talking

First of all your eyes DON'T SEE A THING!!!!! its your brain that sees the eyes focus light on light sensitive cells at the back of the eye which in turn send the info along the optic nerve to the brain that's how hallucinogenic drugs work the PINK ELEPHANTS are not there the brain makes you see them.
I have seen movies with no motion blur on the frames shot in bright daylight that run at 24 frames per second and LOOK SMOOTH the reason for blur in movie frames is a combination of exposure /shutter speed if shutter speed slow an object
is moving fast blur will occur if very bright and shutter speed is fast you will have
very few blurred frames if you look at the the game shown the the 24 fps clip looks
like it stutters after watching the 60 fps clip but when run side by side they both
look smooth if a game runs at a rock steady 30 fps it will look smooth !!!!
As for people being able to detect 90-100hz is probably do to the light in the
room as here in uk for example mains electricty is 50hz so lights will flicker at a different rate from monitor so its noticable similar effect occurs in movies when
sometimes it looks like a cars wheels are rotating backwards as the car moves forwards its revs of wheels in relation to fps of film. Thats my thoughts re this
flame proof suit now on LOL.

so where is 24fps with motion blur? I know UT2K4 doesnt support it but without it this video is stupid for saying "anyone who sees 24 fps as smooth is blind" because most games these days come with motion blur.
