GameSpy decided to throw their hat in the ring and rank their top 25 video game cinematics of all time.
Their winner: Gears of War’s Mad World trailer. I have to say, this is probably my favorite cinematic too. The mood, the music, the characters… it just all came together perfectly.

You have a lot of new stuff on there like you have affinity towards Xbox. You count out tons of 16 bit games there too. You list Gears of Wat Mad World promo there as #1? That there too the cake. Commendable effort but Xbox is not king of cinematics. Expand the list to something a real gamer would not consider a somewhat slanted list.
This is an extremely biased list. Gears of War cinematics may have been between 20-25 at best, it is extremely corny. Then they have games like Halo 3 and Halo wars??? They haven’t even come out yet…super smash on the wii???? I know video gaming didn’t just start last year…right?

Yeah, GOW was freakin’ sweet. I’m glad a lot of people were introduced to Gary Jules/Tears for Fears after that trailer. Donnie Darko really got me into the song though.
When we find out that Samus is a chick…that was a pretty big one. I mean, that was a HUGE surprise!
Halo Wars trailer? Wait…that trailer was boring! If we’re counting everything…check out the “Eternity” trailer for Clive Barker’s Jericho that came out like yesterday.

Slanted toward x-box? How is that…..I count 4 xbox/360 titles as opposed to 9 Playstation games and a lot of PC games. The recent thing I do agree with though.

One fifth of the games listed are made by Blizzard. Thats total BS, wheres the other companies?
You guys act like Killzone is the best game ever. But, you fail to remember how absolutely HORRIBLE the first one once. A company can’t just learn to make a good game, they need skilled designers. Which, is something the Killzone team can’t do.
Look for Lair and Factor 5, they have a solid publishing record. Heavenly Sword has promise, but Ninja Theory hasn’t proven its worth yet. (Remember, Kung Fu Chaos, yea I thought so) MGS4, huge potential, with a legendary director, this will no doubt be good. LittleBigPlanet, looks really cool, but then again Media Molecule is untested, it has the possibility of screwing the game up. Finally, Warhawk, this looks like a toss up. Sure, it looks really nice, but Incognito has churned out both good and bad games.
So, in summary, stop giving into the Killzone hype machine, if the first game released was bad, the sequel won’t be much better.
Everything is biased. Get over it. It’s somebody’s opinion. If you disagree with their picks shut your mouth and make your own list. Show it to your friends and give eachother wicked spankings to show your love.
Ladies n Gentleman i’m shocked to see that Onimusha 3’s opening didnt make it to the top 25!
the effort and cinematics of Onimusha series is far more superior to any dumb game with a plumber as the main character! (Mario)

metal gear solid 3 (not opening but the cut scenes during the game)
God of War 1 and 2 what a masterpiece in story telling and cutscenes!
