The new rally racing game in the Colin McRae series has some amazing car damage effects. This is all real time and normal mapped, so it takes on a pretty realistic effect of how damage would occur.
So, tell me again why Gran Turismo can’t do this?

This game looks fun. They should let you smash into people watching the race like on those Real Tv shows. Also , Dirt McGirt should be an unlockable driver.
Gran Turismo can’t do this, like many other “real car” games, because the makers of the game don’t get the authorization from the car maker to actually make their cars destructable. I guess they think it somehow affects the image of their cars…
@Empire: I know there’s going to be damage in Forza, and these are “real cars” in Dirt also.

Rally games are ok with it but I generally hate damage in car games.
If I’m after a good lap and crash into the barrier and that crash affects the cars ability to steer correctly and perform correctly, I simply quit and restart right then.
Whatever next.. How about If the crash is lethal, your whole career is over and you have to begin again! – nice?
