You heard it right. The next installment in the Guitar Hero series, scheduled to land on store shelves this holiday season, will feature online multiplayer. No word if specific consoles will be features, or all will get online play (Nintendo, I’m looking in your direction), but this is big step for Guitar Hero.
I have my doubts about this, with lag and all. It could be horrendous for co-op play if there’s any kind of lag. But for Face-Off mode, it should be fine. The players would play locally almost, and sync up on each other’s screens. Seems pretty feasible.
Pro-G got the information directly from Kai Huang, President and Co-Founder of Red Octane.
Hopefully the game is released for a reasonable price without the guitar.

If they make a guitar that you can dock the Wiimote into and maintain its functionality, I would definitely consider getting Guitar Hero TWii.
