Red Octane and Activision yesterday released a patch for Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 to fix the whammy bar issues. This is good news for people who have had some jacked up guitars, myself included.

From the Red Octane Forums:

A title update for Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 will be available on Xbox Live at 4:00 am PDT on Saturday, April 14 that should resolve the situation where input from the whammy bar was not always recognized. Downloading the update should resolve this issue for all Activision Guitar Hero branded guitar models.

There’s some reports of this update bricking consoles. There’s lots of rumblings on the official Xbox forums. All I can say is my console is fine after the patch.
