Let me start off by saying I have been a huge fan of the SSX series since Tricky and I give a gold star to EA big for trying, but the game just does not hold the jock strap of it’s predecessors. SSX Blur on the Wii is a decent shot at a snowboarding game and looks visually appealing, but the controls hinder this game something fierce. The game requires you to use the Wii remote and the Nunchuk in order to move around and perform tricks. The Nunchuk controls carving in and out of the snow, while the Wii remote controls your spins and Ubertricks. Most of the time performing tricks while in the air are equivalent to a jerky seizure of movement in the hopes to get some points. The music and graphics are pretty solid but the controls just detracted me so much from the experience that I just can’t see myself playing this much. This game feeds my greatest fear that the Wii will remain only a gimmick.
