Major Nelson lets us know that Xbox Live, Xbox.com, and the Xbox forums will be down for a scheduled maintenance period on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 0000 to 1400 PST (that’s 3am to 5pm EST for those keeping score). That’s a hefty time for everything to be down, don’t you think? Most of the scheduled maintenance times are 3 hours.
From Major’s article…
Xbox Live, Xbox.com and the Xbox forums will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on Tuesday March 27th (next week) from 0000 to 1400 PT. As a result of this maintenance, Xbox Live, Xbox.com and the Xbox forums will be unavailable during this time. I thought I’d give you enough time to plan next weeks gaming schedule. What to do while you can’t hop on Xbox Live? Xbox.com has you covered with this list. This is purely ‘back end’ work that we scheduled months ago. This is not a dashboard update…that will happen later this Spring.
I don’t buy this being so scheduled. In my opinion, this is due to the Xbox Live Hack we’ve been hearing about, that Microsoft claims never happened. I seem to recall Major saying the scheduled maintenance happens every so often, and this seems pretty quick after the downtime in late February. And for it being down for 14 hours, that seems pretty major to me. This is only speculation, but that’s my opinion.

I actually got caught by the server “maintenance” “wink wink” last night. I was playing PSU until about 1:30 AM NY time last night and got the scrolling message across the screen letting all PSU users know that the servers would be closing in 30 minutes. Actually was kind of cool that they gave us the heads up and just didnt shut the game down during mid run. I hope this maintenance will fix that MS point rumor going around, although I am sure it is just a coincidence. LOL
[...] of credit cards from the system. Hopefully that’s something that gets taken care of in the Xbox Live downtime coming up soon. And hopefully they get some people at Xbox Support who have any idea what [...]
Prepping the servers for Halo 3 beta maybe? The article about it on xbox.com did give various hints about it. Like this for example:
“1964: A 9.2 magnitude earthquake hit 80 miles east of Anchorage, Alaska, killing 117 and producing a 50-foot tsunami that traveled over 8,000 miles.”
I did a search about that, no where could I find “117″ about it.
Plus at the end, they do urge you to check out bungie.net.

I was wondering the time frame that xbox would be down.. Glad you put it in eastern time for those keeping score(like myself) I have no idea what to do this morning.. Guess i can just play fear offline. My gears achievements will just have to wait until tonight. This is gay!
Thanks again…
I found a link to a listing of earthquakes and tsunamis…
i found the one about 1964 in Anchorage…
117 died..
just because it is a real fact doesnt make it any less possible that it could be something for Halo 3. although i doubt that they would need to take servers off for 14 hours to add in Halo 3… they dont do this every time they add another hot new multiplayer to the system…
not that Halo 3 is anything like any other game…
Its way beyond the window now…wtf is going on?
Microsoft has never been on time with maintenance. They always go longer than they say. In this case, they’re at the 18 hour mark already. Who knows when it’ll be back up…
