So today Microsoft lifted the NDA on the Shadowrun Beta, so I figured I’d give you my impressions of the game in it’s current state.
The beta is online multiplayer on Xbox 360 only (no cross-platform play yet). There’s a lot too the game. It’s not just your typical first person shooter. You have to master hover jumps, teleporting, spells, etc. Lucky, there’s some pretty good tutorials to help you out with this.
The game is really fun. Let’s just start there. The learning curve is steep, but once you get into it, it’s a blast. I love that it’s not just run and gun. You can use your magic to see people through walls, teleport through and snipe them from behind without them even knowing. There’s some glitches, but that’s expected in a beta. The Shadowrun team has been great with keeping up with it all, sending out regular newsletters to those involved.
I think this game is going to be terrific once it’s released at retail. The beta test has convinced me to buy the game.
Hopefully the Halo 3 Beta goes as smooth and the game is as fun to play.

I plan on buying – I was a shadowrun RPG player back when you guys were still trying to figure out how to open lego boxes.
My expectations of the game from what I hear is poor, but I don’t expect horrible. nor do I expect un-fun .. shadowrun as a concept is truly unique. it was a ripoff of several games, that lacked everything every other game required.. so in short. it was still Better then the original crap RPG on paper games that were even delightfully playable.. if you could find nerds to hang out with that always tried to steal your dice.
So lets come back to present day.. No dice, No theft, nerds thru Xbox Live – that I can kill with shadowrun multiplayer.. SOLD.
I look forward to this game although i am uncertain of it’s staying true to the original series and just going after the easy to please shooter demographic, there are way too many shooters out there already. I will give this one a shot though.
Yeah, there are a lot of shooters out there. I’m personally not a fan of most shooters. This one grabbed my interest with the extra stuff in there with the magic and such. It’s very fun!
