Nintendo doesn’t mind throwing a jab at the competition here and there. Especially when it’s Sony. Hell, everyone likes to take jabs at Sony. You’re not cool if you don’t. They weighed in on Sony’s new Home service for the PS3, basically saying Sony stole their Mii idea and ran with it. Not too hard to believe, give the track record, and the fact that Home seems striking like Second Life.
Here’s their reaction (from CVG):
When asked of the company’s thoughts on Sony’s online plans, Nintendo told CVG: “This is an example of Sony’s “Mii-too” approach. But as Mr. Miyamoto states, Nintendo years ago considered and rejected the type of approach Sony is now taking”, presumably referring to creating a virtual online world.
So… yeah. You really can’t fault Nintendo here. They pretty might hit the nail on the head. Sony has been basically copying things already on the market for the PS3. However, I do think the Home service on PS3 will end up being very good. It gives PS3 owners some hope that there’s life in the system, and there’s a reason to own one (other than a low priced BluRay player).
