I just got an email from Time Warner / Road Runner saying that all customers will see a doubling of download bandwidth in the first quarter of 2007. We currently get 5 Mbps, which will become 10mbps. From the email:
Time Warner Cable, the company that was first at fast and first at fiber optics, is increasing your speed again. We’re doubling it in the new year … for no extra cost.
In the first quarter of 2007, Road Runner will be doubling the download speed for its residential customers to 10 Mbps. Our Time Warner Cable Business Class customers will experience similar increases in speed.* The same monthly price that you’ve been paying will stay the same.
Increased speed. Same price. Great deal.
We haven’t told the media yet. This is a special notice directly to you, our loyal and valued Road Runner customer. In the coming weeks, you’ll see more information about this exciting improvement in your internet service.
I’m hugely excited for this. I really miss the 10 Mbps I had with Optimum Online back on Long Island. Hopefully Road Runner increases the Upload bandwidth as well, since we only get 384 Kbps now. Here’s hoping for 1 Mbps.

(chanting) FIOS is coming…FIOS is coming….
When I signed up for Road Runner in 2000, their service was 3mbit down, 1 mbit up. They then changed it to 2.5/384, then back to 3/384, and then 5/384. How come we STILL aren’t seeing 1 mbit up like back when I first signed up for it?
What they need to do is increase their upload speed.
I has DSL

Fiber Optic Pool Lights - Safety and Efficiency…
While there were watertight lights for pools long before fiber optics, they were bulky, and it was constantly difficult to change a burned-out bulb. Fiber optics has made it feasible to not only keep electricity from the water, but it has also made man…
